ANDREA AVALDI

Aeronautical engineer Andrea is one of the most sought after strcutural designers in the America's Cup, having worked with the Prada team for the last three campaigns. He has an impressive range of experience and qualifications to his name, having graduated from the Polytechnic in Milan with a Master in Aeronautical Engineering, with a specialisation in structures. He then moved to Turin, where he worked at the Fiat Research Center, specialising in structural analysis by finite element methods before returning to Milan in 1994 to work for various aeronautical firms. In 1995 he began consulting in computation and structural design for F1 teams, including Ferrari.
10 years agosaw Andrea move for the first time into the America's Cup, representing a home nation team. For the last two Prada campaigns he has worked as Head of Structural Design with a strong track record of success, twice maiking the Louis Vuitton Finals and on one occassion winning the Louis Vuitton Cup. Parrallel to this work, Avaldi also consulted on the structural design of the Volvo 70 ABN AMRO ONE, eventual winner of the last edition of the Volvo Ocean Race, skippered by Mike Sanderson. The proud father of three children, Andrea will not only bring his mouth watering skills to TEAMORIGIN but will also bring his Italian flair and flavour to the team.
