Year of Birth:1981
Nationality: British
Role: Grinder

At the age of four, Chris was thrown into the deep end when his father took him across the Solent in a mirror dinghy – a long way for a small boy. Nonetheless it got him hooked and he continued to sail on a lake in Leicester, having to commute south for the any events.

He found success in the Laser class, finishing third in the 1998 nationals, but soon had to move to the bigger Finn Class due to his size. Chris is now a veteran of the world Finn sailing class and has performed at the highest level for over seven years, finishing as the 1st youth at the 2001 Finn World Championships (4th Overall). He also was the training partner for Britain’s Olympic Finn sailors at the last two Olympics, where we have won Gold on both occasions.

2007 saw Chris join the realms of America’s Cup competition as a grinder with +39 Challenge. Known for his strength and endurance, Brittle proved his mettle onboard the small Italian team and built a well earned reputation for hard work and high standards of performance. As one of the leading British grinders in the last Cup, TEAMORIGIN was a natural and logical step forward for the up and coming grinder.

2007 +39 Challenge Grinder

Why you joined TEAMORIGIN:

“When I heard that TEAMORIGIN was recruiting, I was both honoured and excited to be approached by Mike Sanderson. I learnt a lot during my first experience of the America’s Cup and am hungry for more action. With such a strong and experienced line up onboard the British boat, I can only go from strength to strength, continue to learn and improve and hopefully achieve some great results along the way.”
