IAN MOORE
Year of Birth: 1971
Nationality: Britain
Role: Navigator

Ian was brought up in Northern Ireland and first sailed at the local sailing club in Newcastle, Co Down. With keen sailing parents behind him, Ian learnt the ropes on Mirror dinghies in the small local harbour.

At University in Southampton, Ian initially trained as a naval architect and has since worked on a number of diverse projects, including designing and building nuclear submarines before becoming a professional yacht racing navigator. His big break as a navigator came after racing as a bowman in the Commodores Cup in 1996. After struggling to fill the boat with enough Welshmen, Ian was moved to navigator. He did such a good job he immediately joined the Mumm 36 Breeze in the Italian Admiral's Cup

As well as numerous successful campaigns with Maxis and IMS programmes, he was part of the winning Illbruck Volvo Ocean Race team in 2002 as navigator and has consulted on weather for leading names such as Emma Richards and Mike Golding. His first America's Cup experience was during the last campaign with Emirates Team New Zealand.
